The Treasure Island Tour Train is Galveston Island's oldest operating tour train, established in 1962. It's not really a train, it's a tram. But it's a fun way for a Galveston Tour! Enjoy this 90-minute, 17 mile narrated tour around the Island City for $10/pp. The ride covers both Old and New Galveston - including Seawall Boulevard, the remains of Fort Crockett, historic homes, Rosenberg Library, churches, the downtown business district, the shrimp fleet, Jean Lafitte's home, Moody Mansion, the Bishop's Palace, Ashton Villa, the Strand Historic District, the University of Texas Medical Branch, and dozens of other places of interest. One of which is a reminder of how people can make lemonade from lemons - the famous wood carvings artists sculpted from downed trees after Hurricane Ike. One reviewer wrote: "Thoroughly enjoyable and showed a lot that even regular visitors (like me) would probably miss. Even though I've lived in the Houston area for years and visit Galveston regularly, this was a pleasant, entertaining, and interesting tour with information that was totally new to me."
